Special Education Teacher | San Marcos, Texas
Inspire growth and development as a Special Education Teacher working with foundational learners (EC-6) for the 2026-2027 school year. Based near San Marcos, TX, this contract position focuses on life skills instruction in a supportive, small-class environment of just five students—two of whom require more functional assistance. Your workday will be from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, allowing for dedicated instructional and planning time.
Your expertise in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) processes will be critical, as you’ll participate fully in meetings to ensure students’ individual needs are met. You’ll create a welcoming, structured classroom, promote student empowerment, and uphold school values through the established professional dress code.
Qualifications & Key Experience:
- Hold a current Texas Educator License with Special Education certification
- Experienced in ARD meeting participation and confident contributing to discussions
- Passionate about foundational learning and equipped to provide both life skills support and more intensive functional guidance as needed
- Ability to adhere to the school’s professional appearance policy, including guidelines for attire, tattoos, hair color, and piercings
- Strong communication, organizational, and collaborative skills
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality special education instruction aligned with students’ IEP goals
- Develop individualized learning plans and adapt materials to diverse learning needs
- Foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere where every child is valued
- Document student progress and communicate insights effectively with families and colleagues
- Maintain classroom environments that reflect both safety and equality
