Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education (or eligibility to obtain)
- Experience teaching or supporting students with moderate to severe needs, especially in self-contained settings
- Familiarity with medical fragility, health care plans, and adapting instruction accordingly
- Strong collaboration skills for working effectively with instructional assistants and related services staff
- Excellent communication skills for partnering with parents, therapists, and administrators
- Preference given to candidates with prior experience in medically complex classrooms
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs)
- Adapt lesson plans to ensure accessibility and engagement for all students
- Supervise and mentor classroom assistants in daily routines and care protocols
- Prioritize student health, safety, and well-being with attention to medical protocols
- Collect data and track progress toward educational and developmental goals
- Maintain open communication and documentation with families and support staff
