This full-time contract role supports grades 5–8 during the 2026/2027 academic year, providing direct instruction, accommodations, and collaboration within a dynamic school environment focused on preparing students for future academic success.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Current Rhode Island RIDE certification as a Special Education Teacher
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- At least two years of relevant teaching experience preferred
- Strongly prefer candidates with school-based special education experience
- Bilingual applicants encouraged to apply
- Must fulfill all state and school requirements for special education providers
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver small-group pull-out instruction aligned with rigorous standards
- Collaborate frequently with general education teachers to support inclusive practices
- Offer in-class accommodations and direct instructional supports
- Implement, monitor, and document progress on IEP goals
- Schedule, facilitate, and participate in IEP meetings
- Maintain detailed records on student progress and growth
- Build meaningful partnerships with families and communicate student progress
- Support academic, social, and behavioral development of students
- Contribute to a positive and achievement-focused school culture
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and community activities
