Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification (appropriate to the state’s requirements)
- Bachelor’s degree (minimum) in Special Education or related field
- Previous experience working with students with disabilities, IEPs, and differentiated instruction
- Strong understanding of a range of learning disabilities, behavioral challenges, and intervention strategies
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with parents, support staff, and other teachers
- Ability to maintain detailed documentation and adhere to regulatory guidelines
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver tailored lesson plans to meet the unique needs of each student
- Implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations
- Foster a supportive, inclusive classroom environment promoting academic growth and social-emotional skills
- Regularly assess, document, and report on student progress and adapt teaching as needed
- Collaborate with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to maximize student outcomes
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute insight to educational planning for each student
