Special Education Teacher | Evanston, Illinois
Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students by supporting their unique learning needs in a contract role as a Special Education Teacher near Evanston, IL. Work directly with a diverse group of approximately 20 students, providing both push-in and pull-out services that are primarily centered around building reading fluency, comprehension, and foundational math skills. Help learners with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Developmental Disabilities (DD) achieve their greatest potential in an inclusive and supportive school environment.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL)
- LBS1 endorsement required
- Experience working with elementary or middle school students with SLD and DD preferred
- Proven ability to implement differentiated instruction and contribute to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Adaptable, collaborative, and committed to fostering an inclusive classroom
Responsibilities:
- Deliver small group or individual instruction focused on literacy and numeracy aligned with students’ IEP goals
- Collaborate with general education teachers, specialists, and related service providers to design and implement accommodations and modifications
- Monitor student progress, track data, and participate in IEP meetings
- Provide classroom push-in support as well as targeted pull-out interventions as needed
- Maintain regular, clear communication with families regarding student progress and support strategies
