Special Education Teacher in Evanston, IL

This contract opportunity near Evanston, IL, centers on providing individualized and small group instruction within both push-in and pull-out settings. You’ll have the chance to create meaningful change in the lives of your students, working primarily with those identified with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD) and Developmental Disabilities (DD). With an average caseload of about 20 students, your instruction will focus on enhancing reading fluency, reading comprehension, and foundational math skills.
Qualifications:
- Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with LBS1 endorsement required
- Previous experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school setting preferred
- Knowledge of best practices for supporting students with SLD and DD
- Strong communication and collaboration abilities
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment
Responsibilities:
- Deliver both push-in and pull-out supports tailored to individual student needs
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers and support staff to integrate and modify instruction
- Develop IEP goals and document student progress using data-driven methods
- Provide targeted instruction in reading and foundational math for students with learning challenges
- Maintain accurate records of services provided, student achievements, and parent communications
- Establish positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues to create an effective support network
