K-5 Teacher of Special Needs - North St. Paul, MN Area

Soliant Education is seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher for a full-time, onsite contract assignment serving an elementary school in the North St. Paul, MN area for the 2026–2027 school year. Position Details

This is a full-time, onsite contract position with an assignment running from August 31, 2026, through June 4, 2027. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Compensation ranges from $43.75 to $57.50 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

About the Assignment

The selected educator will work in a center-based classroom supporting students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities (DCD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The classroom serves approximately six students in kindergarten through second grade, allowing for individualized instruction and meaningful student engagement. This high-needs setting includes strong paraprofessional support and collaboration with a multidisciplinary educational team.

Responsibilities

The Special Education Teacher will develop and implement individualized instruction aligned with each student's educational goals while fostering a structured and supportive classroom environment. Responsibilities include writing and maintaining Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), monitoring student progress through data collection, and adapting instructional strategies based on student needs. The teacher will collaborate closely with related service providers, paraprofessionals, administrators, and families to promote student growth across academic, behavioral, communication, and functional skill areas.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Deliver individualized and small-group instruction.

  • Implement evidence-based behavioral interventions and classroom supports.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and progress monitoring.

  • Participate in IEP meetings and interdisciplinary collaboration.

  • Foster positive communication with families and school staff.

  • Support students in developing independence and functional life skills.

Requirements

Qualified candidates must possess an active Minnesota Special Education Teaching License and have experience supporting students with autism and developmental disabilities. Candidates should demonstrate strong classroom management skills, the ability to implement individualized interventions, and experience developing IEPs and collecting progress data. Excellent communication and collaboration skills are essential for success in this role.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • ASD, DCD, ABS, or Cross-Categorical Special Education licensure.

  • Experience in a center-based autism classroom.

  • Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).

  • Experience implementing sensory regulation strategies.

  • Background teaching functional skills and adaptive instruction.
