Special Education Teacher - Santa Cruz, California

What You’ll Bring:
- Current and valid Extensive Support Needs Credential, authorization for Moderate-Severe disabilities
- Experience teaching in a Special Day Class or working with students requiring moderate-severe support
- Ability to create an inclusive classroom environment and effectively manage behaviors using proven strategies
- Skill in developing and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with instructional teams, support staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality instruction and daily support to two distinct groups:
- Fall: Teach 2nd and 3rd graders (6 students), 8:00 AM start time
- Spring: Guide middle-grade students (7 students), 8:10 AM start time
- Foster academic, behavioral, and social-emotional growth for students with extensive support needs
- Maintain accurate educational documentation and progress reports in compliance with requirements
- Collaborate with colleagues and families to ensure consistency and individualized care
- Provide structure, encouragement, and clear communication to create a safe and engaged learning environment
