Special Education Teacher in Westfield, MA

Step into a pivotal leadership role guiding middle school special education services for the upcoming 2026–2027 academic year. This onsite contract position offers the opportunity to serve as an Evaluation Team Leader (ETL), directly supporting students in grades 6–8 by ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations and by coordinating specialized educational plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and facilitate all aspects of compliance with M.G.L. 71B and 603 CMR 28.00 Special Education Regulations, reporting to district leaders.
- Act as a bridge between families, school administration, staff, and external agencies to deliver effective, individualized services.
- Serve as the final reviewer and submitter of IEPs for your assigned caseload, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Attend required professional development sessions to stay abreast of best practices and policy updates in special education.
- Maintain clear documentation and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to support each student’s unique needs.
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related discipline.
- Current Massachusetts certification as a Teacher for Students with Moderate Disabilities preferred; other DESE licensure considered.
- At least three years of successful public school experience, ideally within special education, guidance, or counseling.
- Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy and cultural responsiveness when working with students, families, and staff.
- Deep understanding of special education requirements and experience finalizing IEP documentation.
Position Details:
- Full-time, onsite (2026–2027 academic year)
- Interviews via Microsoft Teams (15–30 min session)
- Must pass a drug screen and background check
