Special Education Teacher - Hopewell Junction, New York
Exciting opportunities are available for dedicated Special Education Teachers to support students in specialized programs near Hopewell Junction, NY. Full-time, onsite roles are open within self-contained classrooms serving students referred from local districts. Each room is well-staffed, with a team of one teacher and three support professionals, ensuring a collaborative environment focused on positive student outcomes and individualized education.
Available Positions:
- Kindergarten/Elementary Special Education Teacher, Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 3:30 PM. There is particular demand for Grades 1–3 coverage.
- Preschool Special Education Teacher (SFP Program), Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM, with a focus on preschool classroom coverage.
All classrooms are located in the New Windsor, NY area and feature small group sizes ranging from 6 to 12 students. Placement is tailored to each student’s IEP, academic functioning, and behavioral support needs. Many students thrive with personalized behavioral support plans.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid New York State Special Education Teacher Certification (Early Childhood and/or K–12 highly preferred)
- Experience working in self-contained settings or specialized programs
- Knowledge of IEP process, goal-setting, and progress monitoring
- Ability to provide differentiated instruction and classroom management
- Strong team collaboration and communication skills
- Up-to-date New York State teaching clearances
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction to students in alignment with IEP requirements
- Collaborate with classroom support staff and related service providers
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records
- Implement positive behavior interventions and supports as needed
- Participate in IEP meetings and case management
